It’s Morphing Time! – Responsive Web Design
I want to comment on an important trend in the marketplace.
You see today, website traffic comes in many shapes and sizes. People surf from their desktop, laptop, tablet and/or smartphones. Yet no matter the device, your website must present a common front across all of them. If you ignore these multiple traffic streams, you risk devaluing your brand, hitting you where it hurts the most: your bottom line.
For this reason, I firmly believe that your online presence should project a uniform image on all devices. How do you accomplish that you may ask?
Responsive Web Design
You may have heard of the term “Responsive Web Design.” It is a web development approach that makes dynamic changes to the look of your website. RWD is the solution to the design quandary for multiple devices. The appearance of your website changes depending on the screen size and orientation of the device being used to view it!
Response web design utilizes break points to decide the layout of a site. They are usually based on the width of the browser; one design is implemented above a breakpoint while another is applied below it. With a responsive design, you no longer need multiple versions of your site. Economical, and as you’ll see below, rewarding too.
Google loves responsive web design – and because of that, so should you! Through implementing a single website that responds to multiple devices, Google can index all your content at once. It no longer needs to peruse your other sites. In turn, you will be rewarded with improved search rankings.
Engage Your Audience
Website visitors will not hesitate to judge your brand based on what they see. By creating a site that engages through responsive design you will prove that you care about their digital experience. It’s also a good way to show off what you are capable of. This is what I like to call a win win scenario.
Heed the Call
You really can’t afford not to. If you want to be seen as an innovative and engaging online presence, then you must attend your audience’s needs and wants. Responsive web design is a great way to do exactly that!
